ABOUT CANINE AFLOAT

Cape Cod
dog trainer.

Hi, I’m Emily. I help people and their dogs feel more at ease together, whether that means a calmer walk, a better start with a new puppy, or knowing what to do when things get tricky. We’ll start with what matters most to you and take it one step at a time.

MEET YOUR TRAINER

Experience. Patience.
A love of dogs.

I’ve spent more than a decade helping Cape Cod dogs and their people work through the moments that make everyday life harder: pulling on walks, jumping on visitors, or figuring out life with a new puppy.

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, trying things, and learning alongside your dog. You don’t need to have it all figured out before we start.

HOW WE’LL WORK TOGETHER

Clear steps.
Room to learn.

Start with your dog.

I use positive, science-based training and begin with what your dog can manage today. We build useful habits at a pace that gives you both a chance to succeed.

Make the “why” clear.

I’ll explain what we’re practicing and why it helps. We’ll break each skill into manageable steps, so you know what to do when it’s your turn.

Bring it home.

You’ll leave with a plan you can follow between lessons. The aim is better communication and habits that help during your actual walks, routines, and time together.

WHEN I’M NOT TEACHING

Still learning.
Usually with a dog.

My own dogs keep me learning, too. We train and compete in agility, nosework, and dock diving, each one a different way to explore motivation, focus, and teamwork.

Those experiences come back into my lessons. Knowing when to make a task easier, when to take a break, and what makes a dog want to try again matters just as much on a neighborhood walk as it does in a competition.
